Announcing Global Antiquity’s Faculty Lunch Series, 2024–2025

Published: October 24, 2024

Global Antiquity is pleased to announce the launch of its 2024–2025 Faculty Lunch Series. This forum, inaugurated last year, is intended to provide faculty at UCLA with the opportunity to share their current research and receive feedback in a casual setting. Talks may take the form of a traditional lecture, a discussion of a pre-circulated paper, or a presentation of a work in progress. In other words, the series is intended to serve as a helpful opportunity to receive feedback from the ancient studies communities at UCLA rather than as a formal lecture. Lunch and refreshments are also served prior to the talk, and all are welcome to join!

The first talk of the 2024–2025 academic year will be given by Professor Solange Ashby (Near Eastern Languages and Cultures), who will speak on Nubian Rites, Linguistics, and Gold: An Unusual Demotic Term Explained. The event will take place on Friday, November 8 from 12:00–1:30 pm in Royce Hall 306. For additional information, please click here.

Upcoming talks later in the academic year will feature David Schneller (Art History) and David Schaberg (Asian Languages and Cultures).
